BULALOHAN at MAHOGANY MARKET | Tagaytay City

TAGAYTAY CITY | Every time someone visits Tagaytay, the food that first comes to our mind is the ever famous Bulalo. This is the perfect meal for the cold climate experienced here. And that’s what we did together with my friends.
“Bulalo is a Filipino stew made from beef shanks and marrow bones. Learn how to make Bulalo with this simple recipe.” – No Recipes.

MAHOGANY BEEF MARKET AND BULALOHAN

It was lunchtime in Tagaytay, and we were looking for a nice place to eat. There are hundreds of restaurants around, but we thought that the best place to go is the Mahogany Beef Market and Bulalohan. There is ample space for car parking, but during weekends I am sure it can be hectic.
It’s been a long time since I last visited Mahogany Market, but I appreciate how it looks now. It’s more spacious and organized, and since they are currently located on the 2nd level, you get to feel the Tagaytay cold breeze.

Where to Eat Bulalo in Mahogany?

Out of many places to eat in Mahogany, we went to MOMMY TESS, which is found close to the stairs as you go up. The food looks clean, and the staff was very friendly too.

While looking at the menu, you will also observe as you arrive at Mahogany Bulalohan that there are bananas on the table, and you can eat as many as you like. You can find them on every table in the bulalohan market.

After a few minutes of waiting, our food started to arrive at our table, and by the looks of it, it seems like we are going to have a nice feast.

OKOY [Shrimp Fritters] – Php 80.00
Found almost everywhere, one starter I enjoy while waiting for the Bulalo is Okoy: small shrimps are mixed with a batter then deep-fried. People enjoy eating this when dipped in vinegar.

TAWILIS – Php 200.00
A fresh sardine that is only found in Taal Lake. No wonder you can only find them mostly in Tagaytay. This is one of the best starters you could order when in Tagaytay.

SPECIAL BULALO – Php 350.00 [Good for 3 Persons]

And a few seconds after the starters, the special bulalo arrived, and it looked and smelled so delicious! We also thought that this serving is not just good for 3 but 5 persons. There’s so much meat, and it was so tender.
I am telling you, one helping rice is not enough to fully enjoy this Bulalo. It was that delicious. I don’t know about the others, but I am delighted with the Bulalo they served by Mommy Tess. Also, here are some of the foods you can order at Mommy Tess. I wish I could try some more, but I was already satisfied with their special Bulalo.
In the end, it was the right choice that we decided to eat at Mahogany. You will never run out of options, and you are going to have a great time. Aside from the Bulalo, you also get a chance to buy other stuff such as vegetables, dried fish, meats, and much more. I was able to get myself an excellent Barako coffee just across from the bulalohan. This is one place worth visiting in Tagaytay!
