MASASA BEACH Tingloy Island, Batangas

There is one beach destination that is close to Manila and budget-friendly that is Masasa Beach in Tingloy, Batangas.

I've heard so much about this place and I wanted to see it for myself - was it really worth it or not?

So what I did was, I gathered some fellow travelers to accompany me to Masasa Beach. Everyone was excited because none of us had visited this pace before.

We met at the JAM TERMINAL in Buendia where we caught a bus going to BATANGAS GRAND TERMINAL (Fare: Php 170.00). Buses now travel on a 24 hr schedule from the Grand Terminal so it is so much easier.

From the Grand Terminal, we took a jeepney going to MABINI PORT AREA (Php 40.00) . This is the port where you can catch a ferry going to Tingloy Island or straight to Masasa Beach.

BOAT RIDE - Php 100.00 one way
Environmental Fee - Php 25.00

When we arrived at the port, we immediately hopped onto the ferry that took almost an hour to get straight to Masasa Beach.

The ferry was big and very similar to the boats that they use when going to Puerto Galera.

Long before our scheduled trip, I already went looking for a place to stay and as per recommendation, I found D' MARINERS to be most ideal place because of its proximity to the beach.

When we arrived at the Masasa Port, D' Mariners organized a small ferry to pick us up from the port which is free. You can walk to the resort but it's going to take around 30 minutes. So instead, we waited for the small boat and enjoyed a nice ride to the resort!

Since it was a long weekend, we could already see that Masasa Beach was busy and teeming with different water activities.

After a 5 minute boat ride, we finally arrived at D'Mariners .

Phone Number: 09279722679
Contact Person: Maricel of D'Mariners

D'Mariners is one of the beach front accommodations in Masasa. They have nipa huts that can accommodate up to 8 people in each nipa hut. But make sure to call first and book as early as possible because Masasa Beach can get very busy,  especially during holidays.

Remember that the electricity in Masasa is still very limited so please charge whatever you can while the electricity is on.

In a nipa hut like this. Beds and cushions are provided. There are two double beds so it wasn't too bad. And the best thing of all, one night here costs you PHP 300.00 per person!

With regards to food, guests may bring their own and cook it in the common kitchen. Or there are also other places nearby that you can ask to make food for you. Next to D'Mariners there is one canteen that we asked to cook dinner for us for Php 500.00 for 14 pax.

Since we arrived at Masasa Beach early, we decided to do the snorkeling first before checking in. The Snorkeling Fee is Php 100.00 for about an hour. That is not bad at all!

Each one must wear a life vest and hold onto the rope where the boat will just drag you closer to where the coral reefs are.

The snorkeling fee includes the mask and snorkels already. The moment we hopped off the boat and the moment we looked down, we were just blown away with the stunning coral reef at Masasa. It was really beautiful and pristine. You see a lot of fish and if you are lucky, you might see turtles in the area.

Since D'Mariners is right in front of the beach, we walked a few meters from the beach and decided to go for a swim and to my surprised the coral was absolutely amazing. So make sure to bring your mask and snorkels because marine life at Masasa is something you must see.

The coast of Masasa Beach is a kilometer long of fine sand. On a weekend or on holidays, expect the beach to be very hectic but there are plenty of places to swim and snorkel around Masasa Beach.

Camping used to be allowed here before but at present, tourists must stay in  transient houses or cottages like D'Mariners for those who wanted to stay overnight.

With the influx of tourists, water activities are now being offered along Masasa Beach.

In the end, I am not surprised why tourists flock to this island. Masasa Beach really is one place that I would recommend for people who want to enjoy a nice beach and are looking for a quick beach getaway because this place is only 3 to 4 hours away from Manila. I would also recommend this place for those travelers  who are on a budget.

If there is one thing that would remind me of Masasa Beach, it would be the snorkeling which for me is excellent and I was lucky enough to find a turtle in the wild.

Our trip to Masasa Beach is also never complete without my fellow travelers that came with me and really made this trip memorable and also gained new friends along the way. So thank you guys!
