AJI House of Yakitori - A fusion of Japanese and Western cuisine in Dasmarinas, Cavite

It is no doubt that Filipinos love food; whether it is local, international, or even fusion dishes, we are always on a hunt for new flavors.

Located right outside Volet's Resort in Dasmarinas City, Cavite, a Japanese inspired restaurant emerged...and that's what I came to visit and investigate further.

A Western and Japanese inspired restaurant,  AJI House of Yakitori, serves varieties of chicken and pork barbecues and traditional and western inspired Japanese cuisine. For the information of everyone,  Yakitori is a Japanese term for skewered grilled chicken or any skewered food in general.

As you enter the restaurant, you already have the feeling of coziness. I enjoyed the minimalist interior of the restaurant. It may look small from the outside, but inside it was really spacious. The staff were also very friendly and accommodating.

The focal point of the restaurant is this beautiful Japanese inspired wall painting which according to the owners took weeks to finish. It's really beautiful to look at!

Since we just came from a long hike that day, we were really hungry, so we ordered several plates that looked appealing on their menu. Here are some of their dishes that you could try when visiting AJI House of Yakitori.

Grilled Chicken Teri Salad - Php 160.00
Lettuce, hearts of romaine, teriyaki glazed grilled chicken, cucumber, carrots, edamame, cherry tomato, sesame seeds, crispy chicken skin tossed with wasabi dressing. This salad I can guarantee is delicious!

Grilled Chicken Teri Salad - Php 150.00
Lettuce, hearts of romaine, kani, cucumber, carrot, ebiko and nori tossed with Mango vinaigrette.

California Maki - Php 150.00
Rice rolled in fish caviar stuffed with cucumber, ripe mango, kani, Japanese mayo, and wasabi. This is always a personal favorite of mine.

Gyoza 6pcs - Php 160.00
Steamed pot sticker ground chicken with leeks and cabbage with gyoza sauce.

Karaage Wings 6 pcs -   Php 160.00
Deep friend chicken lollipops with house blend spices serve with wasabi mayo.

AJI's Edamame Dip - Php 160.00
Pureed Japanese Peas with cream cheese, parmesan cheese serve with warm pita bread. Some might think this was a hummus, but I think this is more flavorful than that!

Fish Tofu - Php 120.00
Deep friend house blend tofu serve with sriracha mayo. I was really impressed with flavors of this fish tofu. A must try!

AJI's YAKITORI - Php 150.00
In this course, there are 3 yakitoris to choose from served with rice, nori and coleslaw as a side dish.

TORI A - Chicken Breast, Chicken Thigh, and Chicken Sausage
TORI B - Chicken breast, chicken thigh, chicken liver and heart.
TORI C - Chicken breast, chicken thigh, and Tsukune.
AJI Cheese Steak - Php 195.00
Sukiyaki beef with with sauteed onion topped with melted jack cheese on a bun. Served with fries and coleslaw.

Fish Karaage Sandwich - Php 180.00
House blend spices breaded fish with sriracha mayo on a bun. Also served with fries and coleslaw.

Haji Dog - Php 190.00
Hungarian Sausage topped with shredded iceberg lettuce in buns. Serve with side of fries and coleslaw.

Banana Katsu -  PHP 140.00
Deep friend Panko breaded banana topped with roasted nuts, honeycomb sugar, drizzled with Hershey's chocolate sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This dessert is a must! Never leave Aji without ordering this!

After trying out all their dishes, I would not be surprised that people will enjoy the flavors at AJI's House of Yakitori as much as we did. The servings at Aji is very generous and some of them are even good enough for sharing - talking about making your money's worth!

The place is at the center of Dasmarinas City and surrounded by big universities and establishments making it an ideal place for everyone who wants to have a great meal.

Drinks are served in a mason jars which was so cool and very generous since these jars are huge.

All of these is not possible without these two creative men who thought of this concept, JC Jardiniano who is the General Manager and Mark Lester Magsino, the managing director of Aji House of Yakitori Restaurant.

If you are in the vicinity of Dasmarinas city in Cavite or at Volet's Resort for a swim with your family or friends, consider dining at Aji restaurat.

LIMKETKAI LUXE HOTEL - A Great Hotel in the Heart of Cagayan De Oro City

The first time I arrived in Cagayan De Oro City, I was struck by this golden structure that I later found out to be the Limketkai Luxe Hotel. I found out to my delight that friends of mine had booked us in for a night.

I was on my way back from Bukidnon after visiting my relatives so I arrived at 10:00 am at the hotel and although the check in was at 2:00 pm they allowed me to leave my bags in the hotel and I was able to walk to the nearest mall which is the Limketkai Mall.

As I entered the hotel, my first impression was grand. The staff were very friendly and accommodating as well. The ambiance in the lobby was very calm. I like the simplicity and their minimalist approach to design.

It was finally time for us to check in and when they took us to our room, I was surprised! Surprised at how good it looked inside. I even thought that a room like this would cost double when in Manila. The bed was so comfortable and the linen was so soft. Aside from that, everything was digital and they also had a fast WI-FI connectivity. I am glad my friend had made the choice of staying at Limketkai Luxe Hotel.

The bathroom was also very clean and spacious. The water pressure was also good and the heater worked perfectly.

Fitness gym is also available for the hotel guests. If only I had brought my pair of shoes, I would definitely use their treadmills.

But even though I did not have my rubber shoes with me, at least I had my swimming trunks. So I went to their swimming pool instead. The crescent shaped infinity pool over looking the Limketkai Mall also offers the guests a panoramic view of the city. A great place to also have some cocktails while lounging around the pool area.

After having a great sleep on their comfortable bed, it was time for us to have our breakfast. So we headed to Ka Ve Restaurant. Their buffet restaurant offers different varieties of food from local to international dishes. We were very impressed with the food selection and it was a good breakfast overall .

If you are looking for a hotel to stay in Cagayan De Oro, Limketkai Luxe Hotel was really a great choice for us to stay in Cagayan De Oro city. The staff were very friendly, the room we were in was excellent, and the food was delicious. I am not sure if this is the best hotel in Cagayan De Oro city since I haven't tried the other hotels. But one thing is for sure, with it's proximity to different shopping malls and other tourist spots in the city, I don't mind coming back to the LIMKETKAI LUXE HOTEL.

5 Amazing Dishes and Why Lakwatseros TV Fell in Love with FAT!

A lot people often think of fat as something they must avoid but I am so glad that people are now becoming more aware of the benefits we get from fat.

Last August 2014, I started with my Low Carb High Fat way of eating. Basically, I consume natural fat such as butter, full cream milk, and many other natural sources of fat. You can check my article about The Real Meal Revolution.

That is why, when I was invited by the LAKWATSEROS to join them for a dinner along with other travel bloggers at FAT Restaurant, I became very excited and at the same time flattered to be invited!

Located at Forbes Town Center, at Bonifacio Global City (BGC), FAT Restaurant may look simple from outside, but do not underestimate as they will blow you away with their gastronomic delights.

With the skill and creativity of the renowned chef, Mikel Zaguirre, here are some of the attractions  that will make you love FAT!

1. Fat Poutine - Php 380.00

Fat Poutine consists of frites, roasted bone marrow, Mushroom Ragout, house-made double smoked bacon, kesong puti, and bone marrow gravy. Before you eat it, squeeze the lemon first and pour the bone marrow on it. It's a very flavorful dish that prepares your palate for some more amazing dishes!

2. Pork's Ear en Croute - Php 370.00

This dish consists of Grilled Pork's Ear, Herb Oil, Mango Mayo, Saffron Aioli, Sourdough,  Arugula leaves, and Pico De Gallo. This is one of my favorite dishes at FAT Restaurant. I like how flavors all complemented each other once you put them in your mouth!

3. Korean Beef Stew - Php 870.00

This dish consists of Boneless Short Ribs braised for hours, Kimchi rice, Seared Foie Gras, and 64 Degree Egg.This is not your ordinary Korean beef stew. It took a lot of time, skills, and technical skill to come up with this amazing dish.  The beef was so tender, the 64 degree egg on top of the kimchi rice was a great combination! This was the best beef stew I have tasted so far!

4.Porchetta  - Php 770.00

This dish consists of pork belly, whipped potatoes, spinach, mushroom ragout, home made bacon jam, mustard, and bone marrow sauce. Now, this is my most favorite dish! I loved their very crispy pork belly combined with all other condiments making this dish, mouthwatering!

5.Bacon Baklava - Php 310.00

This unusual dessert consists of phyllo pastry, pistachios, almonds, maple glazed bacon, and brown butter ice cream. I love baklava and adding bacon to it really made it more interesting. At first I was hesitant, but it was actually a good combination!

This restaurant is highly recommended! Expect great food once you are in this restaurant and forget the guilt factor, remember FAT IS GOOD FOR YOU (natural fat)!

I would like to thankJL Asayo and the people behind LAKWATSEROS TV for this opportunity of gathering some of the travel bloggers at this awesome FAT Restaurant.

Duty Free Fiesta Mall - A day well spent with the family!

Every time our kababayans arrived in the Philippines, a favorite destination to go is the Duty Free Fiesta Mall. I have always been intrigued about what it is like inside. All I knew was that you pay in dollars. But what else is there to see inside? That is what I was about to find out.

Since travelling in and out of the country is very easy with the low fares and other budget airlines emerging, what better way than to spend a day at the Duty Free Fiesta Mall located in Paranaque City. It's basically just next to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA 1).

My brother John Kenneth Maleriado, recently arrived from overseas for a two month vacation. So my mom came up with the idea of going to Duty Free Fiesta Mall one Sunday afternoon.
