Costs of Flying Overseas in the Philippines

A lot of us Filipinos nowadays can afford to travel whether its domestic or international. But, have you ever wondered what other fees you need to pay before leaving the Philippines?
Last 21st of December 2013, we flew to Bangkok, Thailand for vacation. So as always, we parked at Park ‘n Fly which took us to NAIA Terminal 3 since we were flying Cebu Pacific. It was also easy to check-in online.

Make you sure you have your Immigration Form with you already filled in. This will be given to you by one of the airport staff when you travel overseas.
Before you get your boarding pass,  you will have to pay TRAVEL TAX. After checking in your bags, you will be asked to pay for the travel tax and they will ask you to come back for the boarding pass along with the receipt so it is best to pay before checking in any luggage. Some international airfares may seem cheap, this is because Travel Tax is not yet included.
So since we are on vacation, we paid the Php 1620.00 x 2=  3240.00.
We are now done sorting out the boarding passes and travel taxes. As you enter the international departures, you have to pay for the Terminal Fee of Php 500.00
If you are an expat living in the Philippines and holding an ACR Icard, an Identification card issued by the Philippines Bureau of Immigration for foreigners from other countries staying here. You will need to pay ECC (Emigration Clearance Certificate)
Php 2380.00 as well as a Php500 called an express line fee –  all paid at the Immigration Cashier Counter.
That’s a lot of money shelled out just at the NAIA airport!
A quote from a friend: “It’s more expensive to leave than to live in the Philippines”
After all the payments sorted out, it’s time for us to board the plane now and enjoy our overseas holiday.
As we departed, I took some pictures of Metro Manila from the sky and what can I say it’s a Mega Manila!!!
Of course, once in the plane, don’t forget to complete the Immigration Form for Thailand.
This will surely help the Filipinos and expats living here about the fees they need to sort out first at our international airports before they plan on leaving for an overseas destination.
